Size Matters NYC!...

Last week Ro and I set out once again to Governors Island, quickly becoming one of The Drop Media’s favorite summer rave locations, and enjoyed the musical stylings of two pretty  much fucking unreal DJs.  Thomas Gold let me start off with is someone who I personally have wanted to see live for a long time, missing his performance at LAVO earlier this summer, I was eager to get to the island early to hear him do his thing.  And GOD DAMN, did he do his thing.  Dropping favorites such as the ever popular Axwell collabo “Blow Up” remix, as well as new tacks such as his work with Dirty South “Alive,” Adele remix “Set Fire To The Rain,” and how could we forget Lady Gaga’s “Judas.”  Thomas Gold exceeded my expectations, bringing not only his great remixes to the table, but live bootlegging like only the SHM members (and apparently their openers) can do themselves.  Stringing together “Turbulence” “Mutfakta” and  “Flash Back” yeah…clearly that blew my mind!

And then there was Steve, this was my second time seeing Mr. Angello do his thing, I got screwed out of his epic NYC NYE event which I hear was one of the best sets he’s ever thrown down, but had the pleasure of seeing him last November at Glow DC.  Almost a year later, and after seeing Ingrosso twice in-between, I was very excited to see what my personal favorite Swedish House Mafia member had in store for me.  Absolutely crushing his set, bringing in tons of new Size Matters ID tracks that we can’t wait to identify and bring to you, as well as dropping the yet to be named SHM/Knife Party song featured on the Knife Party summer 2011 Mixtape, Steve was blowing my mind left and right with songs I didn’t even know.  But of course there was room for plenty of tracks we did know, the thing about seeing any of the SHM members these days though is, your gonna know a ton of the tracks, they all play very similar sets.  Kendo, Mush Mush, Flash, Awooga, clearly all played, but naturally the SHM bootlegging skills came alive and kept the crowd going, my personal favorite may have been Deadmau5 “Strobe” with Swanky Tunes “Together.”  Speaking of Swanky Tunes, as far as new tracks I could identify, his new collabo with R3HAB swept the dance floor, and “Sending My Love” was certainly a big hit.

Below you can find some Zippyshare links to the songs mentioned in the above review!
