Nicole Moudaber is truly the queen of techno, and not just due to her dynamic and masterful DJ sets, as her venture into being a label boss proves more successful with every release. This latest release from Just Be (formerly Bushwacka of legendary duo Layo & Bushwacka) is only the 4th on the label, but perhaps the strongest to date. Bushwacka is still fresh from his split with long time partner Layo and trying to make his name solo as Just Be, hard hitting techno productions like this are sure to help. The title track Growler is a very groovy deep techno track filled with snares and bass, but the Stacey Pullen remix included on the EP is what really makes this track shine. Pullen adds a layer of complexity only a true Detroit native can add to a techno release. The last track on the EP “The French Connection” is my favorite though. This is the track that really shows Just Be is going to have a long successful solo carer. This is a perfect fast booming techno track with a breakdown so epic the first time you hear it in a club you will remember it for days. Perhaps that’s because I saw Carl Cox drop this at Output in May…but you see where I’m coming from. Check out this great summer release today!
