Last Friday we headed over to Webster Hall to see the Bromance bro’s (and Louisahhh!!!) do what they do best, and maaaan did they deliver. Brodinski and Gesaffelstein played a back to back set, which was somewhat of a rare treat since it seems the two of them are never in the same city at the same time. Together they controlled the crowd like dark puppeteers; forcing uniform headbobbing to the sounds of deep kick drums paired with ominous synths & samples. Some crowd favorites were undoubtedly Gesaffelstein’s “Control Movement” as well as Brodinski and Louisahhh!!!’s “Let the Beat Control Your Body”. Anticipating the excitement of these tracks, the Dark Prince Gesaffelstein and his Bromance bro made sure to never let them drop at the right time. It was both refreshing and impressive to see two guys surprise the crowd with live tricks to songs you’ve heard time and time again.
Louisahhh!!!’s set was equally enjoyable. Her impeccable mixing skills combined with interesting and rare track selection gave her performance a very unique aspect of fun. If there were only two words to describe Louisahhh!!!’s live style, they would be “sophisticated” and “smooth.” Without any obnoxiously noisy buildups or endless pitch risers, she successfully got the whole room moving with the most subtle of drops. Unlike Brodinski and Gesaffelstein, Louisahhh!!! never had her audience pleading and begging for the beat to drop. It was just two hours of effortlessly fluid dance.
